Ampara District Flood Relief Program The Ampara YMCA distributed food items and sleeping matts to victims of the January 2011 floods in the Ampara District.
Mission of Hope 2011 - First Aid/CPR Training Workshops Fred Breedlove, USA, taught First Aid & CPR skills to more than 200 students at workshops hosted by the Ampara YMCA. The workshops were conducted with the assistance of Brother Huxley Siriwardene, Administrative Director of the Ampara YMCA. A total of eight workshops were conducted in and around Ampara and Kalmunai at local YMCA's, churches, and schools. Mission of Hope was supported by Fred Breedlove, his family & friends in the USA, including Mountain View Community Church of Snohomish, Washington, and World Impact Network of Bellevue, Washington. People of all major religious groups (Buddhist, Christian, Hindu, Muslim) and ethnic groups (Tamil, Sinhala) were taught First Aid & CPR skills. In addition to the workshops, First Aid Kits, first aid supplies, and medicines were also provided at each workshop.
Mission of Hope 2011 - Livelyhood Restoration Project Fred Breedlove (USA) and Brother Huxley Siriwardene (Administrative Director of the Ampara YMCA) distributed tools to some of the most needy victims of the January 2011 Floods in the Ampara area so that people could go back to work and support their families. The tools were provided by Fred and his supporters which included friends & family, Mountain View Community Church (Snohomish, Washington, USA), and World Impact Network (Bellevue, Washington, USA).
